Maritime Environment Sniper Training (MEST)

Course Description

Precision fire from aerial and seaborne platforms against stationary and moving targets. Program design covers engagement from hovering and moving aerial platforms, anchored and underway seaborne platforms, and multi-directional target movement scenarios. Requires access to appropriate waterborne and aviation assets. Designed in coordination with unit platform availability.

Course Objectives

• Engage multiple semi-stationary seaborne targets from an aerial shooting platform while hovering
  
• Engage multiple semi-stationary seaborne targets from an aerial shooting platform while moving
  
• Engage multiple moving seaborne targets from an aerial shooting platform while hovering
  
• Engage multiple moving seaborne targets from an aerial shooting platform while moving in the same direction
  
• Engage multiple moving seaborne targets from an aerial shooting platform while moving in the opposite direction
  
• Engage multiple semi-stationary seaborne targets from an anchored seaborne shooting platform
  
• Engage multiple semi-stationary seaborne targets from a seaborne shooting platform while moving
  
• Engage multiple moving seaborne targets from an anchored seaborne shooting platform
  
• Engage multiple moving seaborne targets from a seaborne shooting platform moving in the same direction
  
• Engage multiple moving seaborne targets from a seaborne shooting platform moving in the opposite direction
  
• Engage multiple seaborne targets using alternate shooting positions
  
• Complete the Target Acquisition Drill (TAD) with a score of 15 or better
